Year of the Ox Mini Lantern

This package of material can be assembled and transformed into a cute little cow lantern and the horns can be used to make an interesting hat! This is also the first AR digital lantern the Taiwan Tourism Bureau has made.

By scanning the QR code on the package containing the lantern, you will be taken to the Taiwan Lantern Festival’s official website. Follow the steps to use the AR video feature, and an interactive cow lantern hat will be placed on your head!

And if you use the AR feature on your self-made lantern, it will interact with you on your Facebook or Instagram accounts!

Here’s how you can make your very own paper lantern and hat:

1. Fold the paper sculpture along the folding lines. Insert each numbered tab into the slot with the same number.

2. Assemble the body and the head(Tab numbers 1~15): fold the grass over the mouth from inside out and make it flat, then connect the head into the body(No. 16).

3. Pull out the insulating plate of the LED lantern, lock the lamp into the square hole in the back of the cow from inside to outside.

4. Assemble the four legs:(Tab numbers 17~24), follow the number sequence to lock them on both sides of the body one by one(Tab numbers 25~28).

5. Assemble the holder: combine the two horns into one(Tab numbers 29, 30), then lock the two thin strips onto the two ends of the holder, respectively, and connect them to the small pores on the head and butt one by one(Tab numbers 31~34). The buckle is number 31 and should be inserted into the small pores above the two pieces of horns and locked.).

6. Lock the round hole under the black-billed magpie into the small pore on the back of the cow. Switch on the LED lantern, then the lamp will light up.

How to fold the hat with horns:

1. Assemble the body (Tab numbers 1~8), lock the lamp into the square hole in the back from the inside to outside, turn the lamp upside down, use the bell and breast in addition to the paper locks’ upper side to fix the two horns (A~D). Lock the black-billed magpie into the small pore on the top.

2. Lock two strings into both ends of the bottom, then connect to each other on the other ends, then it can be a hat to wear.(It’s adjustable by adjusting the locking location).

※The LED light bulb used to light up the lantern can be changed by unscrewing the screw on the back.
